MG Cyberster: The Roadster’s Comeback with Incredible Performance

NEWS DESK

With the new MG Cyberster, an electric vehicle (EV) that dramatically deviates from the company’s recent emphasis on reasonably priced family cars, MG has returned to the roadster market after a protracted break.

I had the chance to try the Cyberster at its UK debut in Scotland, and both its performance and style surpassed my expectations.

Features and Design: The Cyberster’s design is very similar to the initial idea presented at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2021.

It keeps its unique scissor doors, which give the low-slung sports vehicle a little of flare and make access easier. The production model is eye-catching due to its modern design and streamlined lines.

Variants
There are two base models of the MG Cyberster:

Award:
Rear-wheel drive as the drivetrain
250 kW (335 horsepower) of power
475 Nm of torque
77 kWh battery
19-inch alloy wheels
GT: All-wheel drive and dual motors
375 kW (503 hp) of power
725 Nm of torque
77 kWh battery
20-inch alloy wheels

Both versions come with a variety of external and interior color options, as well as high-end trim and technological amenities.

Interior & Comfort: Like other roadsters, the Cyberster is a two-seater with a low, reclined driving position. The interior options, which use Alcantara and synthetic leather, are either a striking black and red or a somber gray.

The seats lack ventilation, although they are heated, electrically adjustable, and have memory features. At up to 30 mph, the convertible soft top can be lifted or lowered in 15 seconds.

Performance: In both versions, the Cyberster performs admirably. The GT, which is comparable to a Tesla variant 3 Performance, can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds, compared to 5 seconds for the Trophy variant.

Four driving modes—Comfort, Custom, Sport, and Track—as well as a “Supersport” mode for maximum power are available for both versions. Additionally, the Cyberster has single-pedal driving choices and regenerative braking that may be adjusted.

Driving Experience: Drives in the Trophy and GT are thrilling and captivating. Even on rainy roads, the GT’s all-wheel-drive system provides amazing traction and agility that inspires confidence.

The Trophy is a perfect grand tourer because of its reduced weight, which makes driving more comfortable and agile.

The Cyberster has useful storage even though it is a roadster. A set of golf clubs or an overnight bag can fit in its 249-liter back baggage compartment. Additionally, there is a tiny area for extra storage beneath the chairs.

Range and Charging: The Cyberster has a respectable range; the Trophy model can travel up to 316 miles (WLTP), while the GT can travel up to 276 miles. Real-world driving conditions give between 170 and 193 miles, depending on driving style.
